A CHARTER ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A QUORUM FOR THE GOVERNING BODY MEETINGS OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GARDEN PLAIN, KANSAS, BY EXEMPTING THE CITY OF GARDEN PLAIN, KANSAS FROM THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 15-106 AND PROVIDING SUBSTITUTE PROVISIONS ON THE SAME SUBJECT.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF GARDEN PLAIN, SEDGWICK COUNTY, KANSAS;
SECTION 1. EXEMPTION.
The City of Garden Plain, Kansas, by virtue of the power vested in it by Article 12, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby does exempt itself and make inapplicable to it K.S.A. 15-106 which applies to this City but does not apply uniformly to all cities.
SECTION 2. MEETINGS OF COUNCIL.
Regular meetings of
the Council shall be held at such times, not less than once each month, as
shall be prescribed by Ordinance. Special meetings may be called by the Mayor
or Acting Mayor, on written request of any three members of the Council,
specifying the object and purpose of such meeting, which request shall be read
at the meeting and entered at length on the journal. In all cases, it shall
require four of the five council members elect to constitute a quorum to do
business; but a smaller number may adjourn from day to day, and may compel the
attendance of absent members in such manner and under such penalties as the
Council, by Ordinance, may have previously prescribed.
